—————————————-

B-01
494 – Horo (Spice and Wolf II)
148 – Kazakiri Hyouka (Toaru Majutsu no Index)
145 – Minakami Misao (Asura Cryin’)
55 – Nina Antalk (Koukaku no Regios)
44 – Iinchou (Last Amazones) (Seto no Hanayome OVA)

Prediction: Horo > Hyouka > Iinchou > Misao > Nina
My vote: Horo > Hyouka > Iinchou > Misao > Nina Antalk

Horo easily takes this group, and for good reason. Iinchou didn’t do as well as I thought she would, but she’s one of the less popular Seto no Hanayome characters so I guess it’s understandable?

B-02
688 – Hiiragi Tsukasa (Lucky☆Star OVA)
250 – Winry Rockbell (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
132 – Kurosaki Ryouko (Kemeko Deluxe!)
113 – Umegae Naomi (Zettai Karen Children)

Prediction: Tsukasa > Winry > Ryouko > Naomi
My vote: Abstain > Hiiragi Tsukasa

Ugh, my least favourite character, if only because of last year’s saimoe. Sadly, her group was easy as pie, so no chance of an upset here. Not much to do but wait for Horo or Kana to take her out next round.

B-03
617 – Ikeda Kana (Saki)
262 – Kouzuki Karen (Code Geass – Hangyaku no Lelouch R2)
146 – Midarezaki Kyouka (Kyouran Kazoku Nikki)
93 – Sahashi Yukari (Sekirei)

Prediction: Kana > Karen > Kyouka > Yukari
My vote: Kana > almost everything > Kouzuki Karen

Another easy match, another Saki character destroying the competition. A disappointing performance by Geass, but Karen isn’t exactly moe. These first few matches are boring, but don’t worry, it gets better. (or going by match dates, it got better a day before)

B-04
385 – Yuno (Hidamari Sketch x365)
324 – Aoba Tsugumi (Kannagi)
121 – Higashi Setsuna (Cure Mint) (Yes! Precure 5 GoGo!)
90 – Zenigata Mawari (Seto no Hanayome OVA)

Prediction: Tsugumi > Yuno > Mawari > Setsuna
My vote: Yuno > Tsugumi > Mawari

Mawari underperformed a lot here especially since Iinchou’s match was also on this day. She even lost to a Precure character.. but I haven’t seen any of that series so I shouldn’t comment. Seto no Hanayome fanbase where? I can only hope that San and Luna manage to do better.
Anyway, as expected it was a close match between Tsugumi and Yuno, although not as close as I thought it would be. I’m fine with either one winning; they’re about equal to me. I actually voted for Yuno because I thought Tsugumi would win, but I guess not…

B-05
548 – Ibuki Fuuko (CLANNAD ~AFTER STORY~)
299 – Amamiya Yuuko (ef – a tale of melodies.)
208 – Komaki Manaka (ToHeart2 ad)
125 – Ume-sensei (Hidamari Sketch x365)

Prediction: Fuuko > Yuuko > Ume-sensei > Manaka
My vote: Amamiya Yuuko > Ume-sensei > Ibuki Fuuko

So, my #1 in this tournament has been defeated by a starfish maniac. q__q I mean, I saw it coming, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt… see, if 250 more people had showed up and decided to vote for Yuuko, she would’ve won! Yeah…
That aside, I know nothing about ToHeart other than apparently Tama-nee is amazing, so I have no confidence in my predictions for those characters.

B-06
350 – Sairenji Haruna (To-LOVE-Ru)
312 – Ayanami Rei (Evangelion Shin Gekijouban: Ha)
233 – Miyazaki Nodoka (Mahou Sensei Negima! ~Shiroki Tsubasa ALA ALBA~)
213 – Nue (Tayutama -Kiss on my Deity-)

Prediction: Haruna > Nodoka > Rei > Nue
My vote: Miyazaki Nodoka > Nue > Sairenji Haruna

Hm.. Negima faction really isn’t as strong as it should be this year. Maybe it’s been too long. I expected a close match between Haruna and Nodoka, but Rei ended up in second (probably because of the movie). Honya-chan was one of my favourites in this tournament, but Haruna is okay too I guess. In the end, Yami and Mikan are the only ones I found likable in To-LOVE-Ru though. :/

B-07
358 – Perinne H. Clostermann (Strike Witches)
200 – Takasu Yasuko (Toradora!)
134 – Shishidou Takane (Sora wo Kakeru Shoujo)
120 – Keiko (Minami-ke Okaeri)

Prediction: Perinne > Yasuko > Takane > Keiko
My vote: Perinne > Yasuko > Keiko

Perinne isn’t the strongest Witch, but luckily she got a good matchup against low-tier characters. As expected, she took first, with Toradora! in second, lesser known SoraKake in third, and a non-memorable character in last.

B-08
563 – Minami Kana (Minami-ke Okaeri)
526 – Akiyama Mio (K-ON!)
188 – Hiro (Hidamari Sketch x365)
33 – Sekiutsu Maria Tarou (Goku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei)

Prediction: Mio > Kana > Hiro > Maria
My vote: Hiro > Mio > Kana > Maria

Here we have the biggest upset so far – the one everyone expected to take first place gets knocked out in the first round! But then again, this is Japan saimoe we’re talking about; the strongest get eliminated first, so this was only to be expected. I would’ve preferred it if Hiro won, but BOSS is fine.
I guess all of those Mio fanatics buying up K-ON! related merchandise left and right don’t vote in saimoe, eh?

B-09
525 – Saginomiya Isumi (Hayate no Gotoku!!)
454 – Minami Haruka (Minami-ke Okaeri)
118 – Fuura Kafuka (Goku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei)
65 – Tiffania Westwood (Zero no Tsukaima ~Princesses no Rondo~)

Prediction: Isumi > Haruka > Tiffania > Kafuka
My vote: Isumi > Tiffania > Haruka > Kafuka

Haruka does not get to join her sisters in the next round, because Isumi is moe and everyone knows that. I honestly did not expect Tiffania to do so poorly though; Zero no Tsukaima is a well-known series, and Tiffa is rather popular. However, everyone’s focus is on Isumi vs Haruka, so the other two were both ignored.

B-10
297 – Hanabishi Miki (Hayate no Gotoku!!)
194 – Fujiyoshi Harumi (Goku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei)
182 – Midarezaki Chika (Kyouran Kazoku Nikki)
145 – Allison Whittington (Allison to Lillia)

Prediction: Miki > Chika > Harumi > Allison
My vote: Fujiyoshi Harumi > Hanabishi Miki

There isn’t anyone strong in this group, hence the low vote totals. Miki won because of Hayate faction, as expected.

B-11
525 – Nagi (Kannagi)
256 – Tsukishima Kirari (Kirarin☆Revolution)
230 – Mito Mashiro (Tayutama -Kiss on my Deity-)
125 – Cross Yuuki (Vampire Knight Guilty)

Prediction: Nagi > Mashiro > Kirari > Yuuki
My vote: Mito Mashiro > Nagi > Cross Yuuki

I expected it to be between Nagi and Mashiro for first, but I guess Tayutama just isn’t that well known. Kirari is famous for her fake votes, but it seemed that she had quite a few real ones too… ah well. I couldn’t decide who to vote for between Nagi and Mashiro (Yuuki is out of the question), so I went with Mashiro because I was confident that Nagi would win, even if she’s “second-hand”.

B-12
461 – Shindou Chihiro (ef – a tale of melodies.)
411 – Izumi Konata (Lucky☆Star)
165 – Yamabuki Inori (Cure Pine) (Fresh Precure!)
83 – Kurosaki Shuri (Asura Cryin’)

Prediction: Konata > Chihiro > Shuri > Inori
My vote: Chihiro > Konata > Shuri

Upset #2! Lucky Star‘s most recent appearance was an OVA way back, almost a year ago. This coupled with the fact that the Hiiragi twins made up the final match last year make it obvious that the LS girls will be weaker this year. However, ef has been doing very poorly, and Chihiro wasn’t even a main character in melodies, so it’s still a surprise that she won with a 50 vote margin. This doesn’t make up for Yuuko’s loss, but it’s something.
